SIB YOUNG
Declaration SIB Young
The Junior Section of the Italian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SIB) was established in November 2020 with the purpose to coordinate the activities of the SIB society promoting a network among young SIB members (up to 35-40 years), such as student, PhDs, and postdocs. The junior section of the SIB society consists of seven delegates, who headed different research areas (SIB groups). Delegates strictly work together with the senior coordinators, who collaborate with the main Society. In 2020, the junior section of the SIB joined the scientific committee for the SIB national congress, allowing the young members of the society to actively participate as Chairs and Speakers in the online congress. The junior section also organizes monthly webinars, providing a great opportunity for the young members of the SIB to speak about their research project. The young section delegates believe that the se events could be beneficial for young members, helping them to join their colleagues and prompting the beginning of new collaborations. Moreover, the webinars also provide a good chance for the young members to practice presenting their work in an informal environment. In 2020, the Junior Section of the SIB society joined the Junior Sections initiative of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) which includes the exiting Junior Sections of the FEBS Constituent Societies. The aim of the Junior Sections is to connect young scientists all over Europe, establishing a wide network to support new, international collaborations, enabling the transfer of expertise and knowledge among different laboratories, and helping the youngest in their career development.
